Johnson City, Tennessee • Southside Neighborhood Organization

We're again involved in a renewed effort at preservation of the Clinchfield RR depot on Bufffalo St and it looks like we are going to make some real progress this time. I don’t know if any have access to Face Book but I put up a page on the new effort, just go to
Save Our Rail Road Station. Pass the word along and my regards to
all.

Several suggestions for use of the depot have come up so far. Bicycle rental, sandwich shop/cafe, rail museum, outdoor market stalls. What do you think would be best?

Dan,

Thanks for posting this and for all that you do promoting JC and a healthy lifestyle. We're looking forward to the bike trail.

Personally, I'd love to see the old depot "alive" again with the farmers market. It would be a great place during inclement weather for them to set up. One of the joys of Summer is going to the farmers market on Saturdays. Our kids love it with the music and the fresh food.

Here's a couple pictures that I found on the old "Johnson's Depot" website. A good friend and Johnson City native, Buddy Fontaine, told me about this website and it's cost me many hours exploring the history of my adopted home.

Good luck and please keep us posted.
