We have a 1930's tin roof that we would like to save if possible.  The previous owner painted the roof and we feel this has caused much harm to the tins.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Our roof is from 1920 and we just paint it with the aluminum roof coat. Don't spray it on, do it with a big fat brush and mop it on good and thick, shove it good in any cracks and seams. Any exposure to oxygen will make it rust so if any of the previous paint wore off ,that's why it's rusting. It won't last forever , tin roofs supposedly have a life expectancy of 100 years but only if they are well maintained.
