Event Description

Buy a unique Christmas gift this year and support local Artists on Sat, Nov 13 from 11 - 5 pm. Get a head start and stop by Don Davis' studio opening at 10 am. There are 4 venues that are being used with, as of today, 20 artists representing a variety of mediums at each home. You will find jewelry: stunning swarovski crystal, recycled copper, paper/tile, fiber and ceramic pieces to wood, basketry, fiber, textiles, calligraphy, violin music, mosaic, artisan chocolate and more. Please stop by, check out the work and consider buying local art. With a walkable option like this, why drive out to a super center for Christmas shopping. Affordable prices ranging from $10-$200. SIDE NOTE: sponsorship dollars needed (see below).

There will an artist statement posted within the next few days with a photo of the work to be expected and contact information. This information will also be posted in each home on the day of the show. Expect that each venue will have a variety of work presented. I feel strongly that you will want to buy at least something from someone presenting on that day and hopefully later as well.

This event is a collaborative effort of 4 host families and myself. This is pro bono and independent venture on my part that is not connected to any organizational or company vision. There is also a multi-dimensional vision for this event that first and foremost supports our local artists by creating a low cost venue for them to sell their work and continue creating art (they need us and we need them) and also, with your help, will continue the effort for future shows and creative opportunities for our neighborhood like a Public Arts Project (something that I've thought about for this neighborhood since I moved here about 3 1/2 years ago) to an Arts in the Park Festival. This is an exciting time especially since I've met several creative leaders during this process of event organization, some who are presenting in this show and those that live(d) here, that may be interested in taking these ideas to the next level. They are the experts.

Sponsorship needed.
Because this event is not sponsored, there is a need for dollars to cover unexpected expenses like possibly renting an exterior propane heating system to specifically create additional space for artists to set up outside on the porches (if they so chose), an after-show party at the Catholic Center and which you will all be invited to (food, beverages, live music), and future artistic projects for the neighborhood.

If anyone would like to donate money to this cause, regardless of the amount, please send a payment to my attention: Virginia S. Buda, 418 W. Pine St., Johnson City or drop it off at our home. All money beyond covering expenses will be placed in a fund for next years show or will be used for an art-related project in the tree streets. There will also be a written budget of expenses with receipts for review.

Will you help? Call 423-833-8474 or stop by (watch out for the scattered toys on front porch) any time with questions and suggestions. Thanks. Virginia.
